The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games, by Susanne Collins, is the first of the Hunger Games trilogy.
Katniss Everdeen lives in District 12. Every year, every District, from 1 to 12, has a day called Reaping day. That day, everyone who is between ages 12 and 19 have there names written down and thrown into two giant balls: one for boys, one for girls. Each District selects one boy and one girl to compete in the most deadly games since the gladiators--the Hunger Games. There are 24 players, put into a special arena controlled by the Gamemakers. There is only one victor--except this time, there can be two. The boy, from District 12, Peeta, has announced his love for Katniss to the audience.
